The Choice Effect with Amalia McGibbon, Lara Vogel & Claire Williams on the Next Secrets of Dating and Relationship Success Radio Show

On the November 8th Secrets of Dating and Relationship Success host Gloria MacDonald explores the radically different ways that today’s twenty- and thirty-somethings approach life and love with the authors of The Choice Effect, Amalia McGibbon, Lara Vogel & Claire Williams.

Gloria MacDonald’s online radio show Secrets of Dating and Relationship Success will inspire, inform and motivate you to find, build and grow a successful and loving relationship.  Host Gloria MacDonald has helped hundreds of couples to find love and lasting relationships.  She, along with her fantastic guests, will give you the advice and wisdom you need to cultivate the perfect relationship.

The percentage of married Americans has dropped each decade since the 1950s, and the number of unmarried-but-cohabiting partners has risen 1,000 percent over the last 40 years. At 28 for men and 26 for women, the median age at which Americans are marrying is at its highest point ever – and it’s even higher among the urban and educated cohort.  It turns out that waiting is a good idea: for every year marriage is put off, the chances of divorce go down.  But will these 20 and 30 somethings ever get married and settle down?

On the November 8th Secrets of Dating and Relationship Success, Gloria talks with Amalia McGibbon, Lara Vogel & Claire Williams about how having too many choices impacts their generation’s desires and leads them to sidestep traditional time lines.  At the heart of their theory is a term they coined – “choister” – that best describes what they call their bizarre little generation.  They’ll discuss why and how dating and marriage has changed for this generation. You’ll learn what a Choister is and how a Choister’s marriage will look different than those of their parents.  They’ll answer some of your email questions on worrying if you’ll ever find someone and settling for Mr. Good Enough.

Amalia McGibbon, Lara Vogel & Claire Williams are the co-authors of The Choice Effect, Love and Commitment in an Age of Too Many Options. Amalia McGibbon has an English degree from Stanford and works as a food and travel writer based in London.  Lara Vogel is an MBA student in the UK who co-founded Hope Runs, a non-profit organization in Kenya. She received her undergraduate degree from Stanford and will return to Stanford University for medical school next year.  Claire Williams holds an MBA and other degrees from Stanford and Oxford Universities. She co-founded Hope Runs, and now works at Twitter.
