Nuns Sell T206 Honus Wagner Card for Hefty Sum

Here's a special news story for you sports memorabilia enthusiasts and collectors. A very rare Honus Wagner baseball card was recently sold by a group of nuns for $262,000! The coveted baseball card found its way into the hands of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Baltimore via inheritance from the brother of a deceased nun. Having sold the card in an auction, the religious order will receive $220,000 from the sale, because the total sale price includes a 19.5 percent buyer's premium. All the profits from the sale will go to the order's ministries in various countries throughout the world.

The highly valued collectible baseball card is a very rare T206 Honus Wagner card. Only 60 of these cards, which were produced between 1909 and 1911, are known to exist. The T206 Honus Wager cards are arguably the most well-known and coveted baseball cards in the world. The card put up for auction by the nuns was purchased by Doug Walton of Tennessee, a card collector and card shop owner.
