Lakers Defeat Trail Blazers 121-96

LA Lakers Extend Perfect Regular Season Record

On Sunday night, the Los Angeles Lakers extended their perfect regular season record to 7-0 by defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 121 to 96. Pau Gasol led the attack on the Lakers side of things. His 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists earned him his fourth career triple-double - and that was by the third quarter!

The Lakers now have a 7-0 regular season record for only the fifth time in franchise history. Quite an impressive accomplishment for this particular Lakers lineup when you consider that the Lakers rank second all-time in NBA Finals victories and first all-time in NBA Finals appearances.

''We've been through so many battles, and we're still growing as a team,'' said Gasol, the 7-foot Spanish center that has been with LA since 2008. ''Everybody is growing up together.''

Lamar Odom also played a key role in LA's victory, contributing 21 points and 12 rebounds of his own.

''Lamar Odom, right now, he's an All-Star,'' said Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan.

Kobe Bryant, the usual star of the team, played less than 25 minutes and was seen icing down his knee while on the bench. He did manage to contribute 12 points however.

''We're a pretty good team,'' Bryant said. ''We're just playing extremely well together. We're a deep team, we're an unselfish team and this is what you get.''
