Mayor Bloomberg's Daughter Fractures Spine

Georgina Bloomberg Injured in Horse Riding Accident

Georgina Bloomberg, the daughter of NYC Mayor Mike Bloomerg, was seriously injured in a recent horse riding accident. The 27-year-old was competing at the Syracuse Invitational Sporthouse Tournament on Friday when the saddle of her horse slipped, sending Bloomberg off her horse. She now has a fractured spine.

"She was still for a few moments and then got up with some help and walked out of the show ring on her own," says a witness who was at the event.

Kenneth Kraus, a spokesman for the tournament, says Georgina "was unconscious immediately following the fall and was also diagnosed with a fracture to her spine. The complete medical report ... will become more clear following an in-depth examination on Monday."

"The Mayor is very concerned, as any father would be," said Mayor Bloomberg's spokesperson Stu Loeser.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Georgina has been seriously injured in a horse riding accident. According to a report from the New York Daily News, Bloomberg has broken her back, her collarbone, her wrists, and an ankle. She has also reportedly suffered several concussions.
