Glen Coffee rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns on ten carries, Roy Upchurch collected 91 yards and a score on seven carries and the #9 Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0) chewed up 331 yards on the ground while their defense forced four turnovers in a 49-14 pounding of the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-1) on Saturday.
The Tide wasted little time in burying the Razorbacks as they put up 21 points in the first quarter with a one-yard TD run from Mark Ingram, an 87-yard touchdown run and a 67-yard interception returned for a touchdown by Javier Arenas.
After Casey Dick put the Razorbacks on the board with a with a 12-yard TD pass to Andrew Davie the Tide answered with a John Parker Wilson to Julio Jones 25-yard touchdown pass. The lead was then pushed to 35-7 when Justin Woodall picked off Dick and returned it 74-yards for another score.
It didn’t get any better for the Razorbacks in the second half as Coffee made sure Arkansas had no thoughts of a comeback as he scored his second touchdown of the game on a 31-yard TD run in the first minute of the third quarter.
Alabama will travel to face the Georgia Bulldogs next week while Arkansas takes on Texas.
