James Davis rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns to provide the offensive firepower for the #23 Clemson Tigers (3-1) while their defense forced four turnovers, forced a safety and held the South Carolina State (2-2) rushing game to -9 yards and 146 total yards in a 54-0 blasting on Saturday afternoon.
Davis scored the first three touchdowns for the Tigers on runs of one-yard, 5-yards and another one-yarder. The defense then forced a safety and after Cullen Harper scored on a one-yard run Clemson was up 30-0 heading into halftime.
The defense got in on the scoring act again in the third quarter as Chris Clemons picked off Malcolm Long and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown. Even freshman QB Willy Korn saw the endzone as he was 6/6 passing for 69 yards and a 5-yard TD toss in the fourth quarter to go along with his one-yard touchdown run in the opening minute of the final frame.
