Chase Daniel was 36/43 passing for 439 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Jeremy Maclin had 168 yards receiving and a rushing touchdown and Derrick Washington gathered 89 yards on the ground and two TDs as the #5 Missouri Tigers (4-0) shook off a determined Buffalo Bulls (2-2) in the second half to win 42-21 on Saturday.
While the Tigers never trailed the Bulls ran with them for more than a half. Washington gave the Tigers a 7-0 lead on a 6-yard TD run in the first quarter and Jeff Wolfert kicked a 26-yard field goal for the 10-0 advantage but Buffalo was right back in it when Earnest Jackson returned the ensuing kickoff back 97-yards for a touchdown.
After Maclin scored on a 16-yard run Jackson answered for Buffalo on a 32-yard touchdown reception from Drew Willy to cut their deficit to 17-14 but Wolfert added his second field goal of the game as the half came to an end and Missouri was up 20-14.
Daniel threw his first touchdown of the game in the third quarter when he hit Danario Alexander on a 27-yard strike and Missouri had some breathing room but Jackson answered once more for the Bulls with a 3-yard TD reception, his third score of the game.
Just before the end of the third quarter Washington scored his second rushing touchdown of the game to give the Tigers a 33-21 advantage and then Daniel found Chase Coffman on a 4-yard toss to put the game out of reach early in the fourth.
Missouri will take on Nebraska in two weeks while Buffalo will face Central Michigan next week.
