AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #12 South Florida Grinds Out Win Over FIU

Matt Grothe was 14/22 for 137 yards passing and added another 48 yards on the ground and Mike Ford pounded in touchdowns from two yards and one-yard out as the #12 South Florida Bulls (4-0) beat the FIU Golden Panthers (0-3) 17-9 on Saturday.

Ford put the Bulls on the board in the first quarter with a two-yard plunge and Maikon Bonani booted a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter as South Florida built a 10-0 advantage at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter Ford pushed the Bulls lead to 17-0 when he scored from a yard out with 13:12 left in the game.

FIU finally put point up late in the fourth when the Golden Panthers defense pushed Ford into the endzone and recorded a safety and after receiving the ball on their next drive FIU marched 63 yards and scored on a one-yard TD run from Julian Reams with less than a minute left in the game.

South Florida will face N.C. State next week while FIU takes on Toledo.
