AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #6 LSU Tigers Get Late Touchdown to Knock Off #10 Auburn Tigers

Brandon LaFell had four receptions on Saturday but none were bigger than his 18-yard touchdown from Jarrett Lee with 1:03 left on the clock that gave the #6 LSU Tigers (3-0) a huge 26-21 road victory over the #10 Auburn Tigers (3-1) on Saturday night.

LaFell finished with 92 yards receiving and the one TD while Charles Scott rushed for 132 yards on 21 carries as LSU rolled up 398 yards against the Tigers defense.

For the first two quarters it looked like defense would determine the game as LSU could only put a Colt David field goal on the board while Auburn found the endzone twice, once on a Ben Tate one-yard run and then again on a Gabe McKenzie 26-yard interception return with just over a minute left in the half.

LSU came back in the second half with offense and claimed the lead in the third quarter after Lee hit Chris Mitchell on a 39-yard TD pass and then Keiland Williams found Demetrius Byrd on a 22-yard toss to give them a 17-14 advantage.

David boosted the lead to 20-14 with his second field goal with 8:27 left in the fourth quarter Auburn answered with a Chris Todd to Robert Dunn 15-yard score to give them the lead 21-20 with just over six minutes left in the game.

After both teams traded punts LSU took over with 4:45 left in the game and Lee led them down the field with quick passes until he found LaFell for the go-ahead TD. Auburn still had a shot after getting to the LSU 47-yrd-line following a roughing the quarterback call on their first play but Todd quickly gave those 15 yards back as he took a sack and the Tigers couldn’t move the ball after that.

LSU will face Mississippi State next week while Auburn will take on Tennessee.
