Schools and government building in Pembrook Pines, Florida were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after a woman told a local radio station her husband said he wanted to go to a school and shoot students and teachers. The radio station also received an e-mail threatening government buildings.
All Broward County schools and district facilities were locked down as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted around 2 p.m. "Our children and employees are safe at this point," Broward Superintendent James Notter told the Miami Herald.
Authorities are tracing the call and e-mail in an effort to find those involved. The Broward County School district includes about 300 schools and has about 257,000 students.
