NFL Football Scores Week 3: Miami Dolphins Stomp New England Patriots Behind Ronnie Brown Effort

Ronnie Brown rushed for 113 yards and four touchdowns and added a 19-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Fasano while Chad Pennington was an efficient 17/20 passing for 226 yards as the Miami Dolphins (1-2) handed the New England Patriots (2-1) their first regular season loss in more than a year 38-13 on Sunday.

Brown scored on runs of 2-yards, 15-yards and 5-yards in the first half as the Dolphins carried a 21-6 lead into the break and then Miami turned to some trickery in the third quarter as Brown tossed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Fasano to extend the lead to 28-6.

The Patriots tried to climb back into the game as quarterback Matt Cassel hit Jabar Gaffney on a 5-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter but Brown ended any idea New England had of a comeback with a 62-yard touchdown in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.

Miami’s defense came up big against the running game of the Patriots, holding N.E. to just 79 yards on the ground and limiting their offense to a paltry 4-15 on third down conversion attempts.
