Installing Defragmentation Software Today to Prevent Your Computer from Crashing Tomorrow

Thomas Jefferson once said "never put off till tomorrow what you can do today," and for most people who have experience in procrastination those words of warning are a bitter reminder of what can happen when we fail to heed this advice. More often than not our decision not to act immediately
places us in a position where we will be forced to react to a negative situation. While it doesn't always have to result in dire consequences there is no way to deny that continuing to neglect what needs to be taken care of will ultimately cause serious problems.

Ask anybody who has ever experienced a computer crash due to fragmentation if they saw it coming and if they are being honest they will almost always acknowledge that they either ignored the warning signs or willingly neglected to take care of the issue before everything was lost. It's a tough pill to swallow, knowing that you had the ability to prevent your hard drive from crashing but opted instead to put off fixing the problem until another day.

What's crazy about that attitude is it doesn't carry over into how we handle or manage our other valued possessions. Who in their right mind would notice that their car's gas gauge was on empty and think they could drive any great distance without filling up first? Does anybody think that running on a
sprained ankle wouldn't cause more pain and damage? As absurd as these scenarios are that is essentially what you are doing when you fail to protect your hard drive from the compute disease fragmentation.

It's not a matter of if your car is going to run out of gas, it will unless you put more in. It's not a matter of if your sprained ankle will get worse if you decide to go jogging, it will unless you give it time to heal. It's not a matter of if your computer will be damaged by fragmented files, it will unless you protect your hard drive by installing defragmentation software.

Knowing these certainties it only makes sense to take care of the issue before it becomes more than just an inconvenience. Just remember, you may run out of gas but your car won't become worthless and you may do further damage to that ankle but your arm isn't going to start hurting but if your hard drive crashes because of fragmentation and you lose all of your files then you now have a very expensive paperweight sitting on your desk.

So the question is how much value do you place on your computer knowing that you may have family pictures, important work documents, music files, videos, etc. saved on the hard drive? If you haven't protected your computer with defrag software then it doesn't matter what you say, the answer is not very much.

This has to be the answer because an unprotected computer is a breeding ground for fragmentation and as more and more files are fragmented the closer your hard drive gets to crashing. Of course there are plenty of warning signs that you can easily recognize as fragmentation related and these include difficulty booting up your system, slow Internet browsing, delays in retrieving files or applications and trouble with email- obviously these are all related to speed or lack thereof.

The speed of your computer is interrupted because as files become fragmented each piece is scattered across your hard drive and every time you try to recall a file all the pieces have to be gathered before being delivered to your screen. This can become not just time consuming but extremely taxing for your hard drive and eventually the workload becomes too much and you
experience a crash. That's not a maybe, that's what will happen when fragmentation goes ignored.

Fortunately there's a simple solution that only requires one step but it is a step that needs to be taken before it is too late. Installing defragmentation software, something like Diskeeper 2010, will not only
repair all of those damaged files but will also prevent future fragmentation from taking place. As a result of your files being repaired your computer will return to optimal speed, eliminating the painful delays that you had just learned to accept.

Installing defragmentation software today rather than waiting until tomorrow is about more than just preventing a hard drive crash; it's about restoring and maintaining your computer's performance ability. If you had a flashlight that was dimming wouldn't you change the batteries for a brighter beam? The same is true for your computer- it's getting slower and less reliable every time you turn it on, wouldn't you want it to operate at its peak all the time? Do yourself a favor before procrastination claims the life of your computer, install defrag software today.
