A new putting-only amateur golf tour has unveiled a golf income opportunity available to golf courses and individuals that involves holding official qualifying events for the tour's national championship.
The U.S. Putting Tour will hold its inaugural
national putting championship next September in Carlsbad, California at The Crossings. Amateur golfers can enter the championship directly or can attempt to qualify in a local qualifying event.
These local
amateur putting tournaments can be run by golf courses as a traffic and income generator, by men's and ladies clubs as an innovative event for members, by charities and event planners, and by individuals.
"Anyone who likes golf and wants to make some
golf-related income will love the opportunity with the U.S. Putting Tour," said tour founder, Jim Hartley. "There is total flexibility in terms of how many events a person wants to stage and where they want to hold their qualifying events."
Individuals who hold official USPT qualifying events can run multiple events at one course and events at several courses in their area. There is no limit on how many qualifying tournaments a person can operate. Events can be held between now and early September 2011.
The only stipulation required by the USPT is that entrants adhere to the tour's minimum age requirement of 13 years old and the promoter submit $250 on behalf of their event's winner, which qualifies that person for the finals of the USPT National Championship.
