NFL Football Scores Week 3: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rally to Force OT, Beat Chicago Bears with Field Goal

Brian Griese was 38/67 passing for 407 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Gaines Adams had an interception return for a 45-yard TD and Jerramy Stevens had a one-yard touchdown reception with seven seconds left in regulation to force over before Matt Bryant booted a 21-yard field goal in extra time to lift the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) to a 27-24 victory over the Chicago Bears (1-2) on Sunday.

After settling for three field goals from Robbie Gould in the first half the Bears finally found the endzone late in the third quarter when Kyle Orton hit Matt Forte on a 6-yard toss to give Chicago a 17-14 lead. The Bears pushed their advantage to 24-14 in the fourth quarter when Orton found Brandon Lloyd on a 19-yard pass and it looked like Chicago was in control with 6:38 remaining in the game.

Tampa struck back though and after Bryant kicked a 35-yard field goal with just over three minutes left in the game the Bucs defense forced a punt and Griese took over with 1:49 on the clock and 79-yards to go to tie the game. With just 24 seconds left Griese hit Antonio Bryant for 19–yards to get down to the Bears one-yard-line and two plays later he found Stevens on the one-yard toss to force overtime.

Both teams traded punts on their first possessions of overtime but the Bucs took advantage of an unnecessary roughness penalty on their second possession to keep a drive alive and set up Bryant for the game-winner.
