NFL Football Scores Week 3: Minnesota Vikings Pick Up First Win of Year After Dropping Carolina Panthers

Gus Frerotte filled in nicely at quarterback throwing for 204 yards and a touchdown while Adrian Peterson collected 77 yards rushing on 17 carries and the Minnesota Vikings (1-2) overcame a 10-0 deficit to beat the Carolina Panthers (2-1) 20-10 on Sunday.

Carolina put the first ten points of the game on the board with a field goal from John Kasay in the first quarter and a 2-yard TD run from Jonathan Stewart in the second but after Ryan Longwell split the uprights from 28-yards out the Vikings capitalized on a Jake Delhomme fumble as Antoine Winfield returned it 19-yards to tie the score at 10-10 heading into halftime.

Minnesota grabbed their first lead of the game early in the third quarter when Frerotte hit Visanthe Shiancoe on a 34-yard touchdown pass and Longwell pushed the advantage to 20-10 early in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings defense forced the Panthers to abandon their running game after allowing just 47 yards on the ground and sacking Delhomme five times.
