Boston Celtics Defeat Miami Heat Again
The Celtics Overpower Miami 112-107
On Thursday night, the Miami Heat got their second chance to show the world what they have in their second game against the Boston Celtics this season. Unfortunately for Heat players and fans, the Heat's loss on Thursday seemed like a repeat of the first game.
The final score was 112-107 Boston. Ray Allen (who hit his first 7 three-pointers) led the Celtics in scoring with 35 points, the same amount scored by LeBron James, who led Miami in scoring. James also led the Heat in rebounds and assists, with 10 and 9 respectively. With one more assist, James would have recorded his second consecutive triple-double this season. Not too surprisingly, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo led both teams in assists, with 16; he currently leads the NBA in assists. Like in the Heat's first game against Boston, Dwyane Wade was not able to contribute much for Miami; he scored only 8 points on 2-for-12 shooting.
The Heat, who some were hoping would achieve a perfect regular season record, now have a 5-4 record, and two of their last losses have been in home games. But Wade, despite his unusually bad shooting during Thursday's game, is still optimistic about the Heat's potential.
"We're the best 5-4 team in the league," Wade said. "How about that? But we've got a lot of work to do."
LeBron also put the game into perspective by saying, "You get to a point where you say you try to rush it, you try to rush
the process. And we just can't do that. We're talented
enough, we're going to win some games, we're going to win a lot of
games. But we have to accept this process and understand that it's going
to be one."
"There's no need to be frustrated," said Heat forward Chris Bosh. "We're nine games into
the season and we can't play perfect basketball right off the bat. We're
up against a lot. We just have to keep working. ... When it's all said
and done, I think we'll be where we want to be."
