Yankee Stadium Says Goodbye in Style as Bronx Bombers Top Baltimore Orioles

In the Stadium where Babe Ruth hit bombs, Lou Gehrig became a fixture at first base, Joe DiMaggio put together a 56-game hitting streak, Mickey Mantle roamed the outfield and Derek Jeter became a household name the end has arrived as the New York Yankees played their final game at Yankee Stadium on Sunday night and they went out in style with a 7-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

While Yankee Stadium was filled with dramatic homeruns over its 85-year history the last round-tripper belongs to Jose Molina who broke a 3-3- tie in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run blast off orioles starter Chris Waters to put the Yankees in front.

Andy Pettitte pitched five innings for New York improve to 14-14 and earn the final win at Yankee Stadium and Mariano Rivera came on in the ninth inning like he has for more than a decade and closed the door on the Orioles.

Pettitte also added some personal history to the night as he recorded his 2,000 career strikeout when he set down Ramon Hernandez in the fifth.

Johnny Damon erased a 2-0 Baltimore lead in the third inning with a three-run blast and after Brian Roberts singled home the tying run n the top of the fourth Molina answered with the final home run in stadium history to give the Yankees the win.
