AP Top 25 College Football Week 4: USC Trojans and Oklahoma Sooners Hold Serve in Bye-Week, LSU Jumps Past Missouri
Week four of the 2008 college football season is in the books and with the top two teams in the country, the USC Trojans and Oklahoma Sooners, resting the latest AP Top 25 rankings didn’t change much but slight shifts have once again highlighted the dominance of the SEC and the impressive year the Big 12 is putting together.
The USC Trojans remain #1 followed by the Oklahoma Sooners at #2 and will resume their schedule next week with the Trojans hit the road to face Oregon State while the Sooners host the surprising #24 TCU Horned Frogs.
Following their win against Arizona State the #3 Georgia Bulldogs held their spot in the AP Top 25 as did fellow SEC powerhouse the #4 Florida Gators who dismantled Tennessee on the road over the weekend.
The SEC moved their third team into the top five after the LSU Tigers earned the #5 spot with their road win against then #10 Auburn.
While Chase Daniel kept the Missouri Tigers undefeated the voters dropped the team to #6. The Big 12 have four teams inside the top ten as Texas at #7 and Texas Tech at #10 join Oklahoma and Missouri.
The Penn State Nittany Lions jumped four spots this week to land at #12 after another offensive explosion over the weekend.
Perhaps the biggest surprise to the AP Top 25 was the inclusion of Vanderbilt as they entered te rankings at #21, the first time they’ve been inside the AP Top 25 in two decades.
