Agents with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency seized $5.3 million worth of marijuana, or about 3 tons, Friday near Falfurrias, Texas. An ICE spokesperson said the marijuana was packed in about 500 cellophane and duct tape bricks. No other details were available.
Earlier this month authorities discovered nearly 30 tons of marijuana and a 600 yard tunnel connecting a warehouse in San Diego, California and a building in Tijuana, Mexico. Authorities seized 10 tons of the drugs as they were being moved from the Otay Mesa warehouse in a tractor trailer. The Mexican military discovered about 5 tons in the Tijuana warehouse. In all, officials said about 26 tons of marijuana had been sent through the tunnel and into San Diego over the course of about a month.
