Oklahoma - Drug and alcohol addiction can be a life long battle that can be as devastating for families as it can be for the person that is hooked on drugs. No parent, grandparent, sibling or even distant relative wants to contemplate that someone they love and care about is abusing drugs.
Unfortunately, for many this can be the harsh reality as currently there are over 22 million people addicted throughout the United States. Drug addiction can affect anyone from any walk of life no matter the social or economic status of the individual. Addiction can be especially difficult during the Holiday season as this time is coming together of family where the love and joy of the season is supposed to be cherished by all.
For some families when they find out their loved one is addicted, all they can do is ask themselves “what happened.” Many are left without a solution; unsure of where to turn for help.
Narconon Arrowhead is one of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation programs in the country. The long-term inpatient drug treatment center has been helping addicts for more than 20 years from around the world. This year, in anticipation of the holidays Narconon has created a web-site that will allow visitors to download a free booklet called Addiction Recovery For A Lifetime. This booklet outlines the causes of addiction and the underlying reasons and problems that cause a person to start using drugs in the first place and goes over the barriers that stop addicts in their recovery process.
“With the Holidays coming up so soon, families are in need of real solutions to help their loved ones,” says Derry Hallmark, Senior Director for Expansion for Narconon Arrowhead. “Narconon wants to provide this free service to families so that they have real information on drugs and addiction and can take the steps necessary to help their loved ones.”
Drug addiction is a matter that cannot be taken lightly and has serious consequences. According to the Center for Disease Control nearly all poisoning deaths in the United States are attributed to drugs.
“The good news is that if treated, a large majority of those addicted can fully recover,” adds Hallmark. “Narconon has rehabilitated thousands of addicts and achieves more than a 70% success rate for permanent sobriety.”
