The country singer has revealed she and her ice hockey player husband Mike Fisher – who married in July – are in no rush to start a family and she is unsure of her “motherly instincts”.
She told America’s InStyle magazine: "Oh, it's going to be a while. The other night, Mike was with some friends and their kids, and he sent me a funny text saying, 'Watching my friend's kids ... let's wait a while.'
"I didn't grow up around kids, and I hope those motherly instincts are in me. I'm sure they are, but I don't know what to talk about with a four year old.”
While Carrie is not ready to have children yet, the 27-year-old beauty loves every aspect of married life.
Despite the fact she is mostly based in the US, while Mike – who Carrie started dating in late 2008 - plays for the Ottawa Senators in Canada, she insists their work commitments would never have put her off committing to the sportsman.
She added: "With Mike, there was not a doubt in my head. I like missing him. I like looking forward to something."
