The Sapporo Snow Festival has taken place since the 50's. Artists from around the world shape gigantic, extraordinary designs in ice and snow. Past designs include well known landmarks, well known public figures, and of course in true Japanese style…cartoon characters.

The Sapporo Snow Festival is not just for spectators; visitors are able to participate in ice sculpture classes, thrilling snow chute rides, breathtaking hot air balloon rides, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling or assist in creating the ten thousand snowmen needed to break the world record from last year. At the end of the day don’t miss the traditional soak in a Japanese onsen…hot spring bath.
