It’s bad news after bad news for the Carolina Panthers.
Starting running back DeAngelo Williams was placed on season-ending injured reserve today. He has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain that has kept him out of the team’s last 3 games.
"He was probably two to three weeks away (from being healthy enough to play)," Panthers head coach John Fox. "It was healing a little slower than originally expected, and we needed a roster spot."
Williams had 361 rushing yards and just one touchdown in the 6 games he played in this season. With the open spot, the Panthers signed guard C.J. Davis from the practice squad.
To make matters worse, starting quarterback Jimmy Clausen sat out of practice today. He sustained a concussion late in last Sunday’s 31-16 loss to Tampa Bay and is not expected to the play this Sunday against the Ravens.
The Panthers currently sit at the bottom of the NFC, with a 1-8 record.
