USA Today Coaches Poll College Football Top 25: USC Trojans Remains No. 1

USC remains at the top spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 college football rankings after a bye week.

The Trojans and the Oklahoma Sooners, the nation’s top two teams, both had a bye last week, but will gear up to face Oregon State and #23 TCU, respectively. Both teams will play seven consecutive games before their next bye week on Nov. 15.

LSU remains No. 6 after defeating then-No. 9 Auburn, 26-21, in the “Tiger Bowl”. Auburn dropped seven spots after the last-minute loss to the reigning national champions. The top eight teams remained the same after Week 3.

Oregon dropped the most of any team in the rankings, dropping 10 spots after losing 37-32 to then-unranked Boise State, giving the Ducks their first loss of the season.

TCU, Boise State, Fresno State and Vanderbilt all moved into the top 25, replacing East Carolina, West Virginia, Arizona State and Florida State.

ECU lost to N.C. State, 30-24, in overtime; West Virginia lost their second consecutive game, this time to Colorado 17-14 in overtime; Arizona State also lost its second straight game, losing to #3 Georgia, 27-10; and Florida State lost 12-3 to #18 Wake Forest.
