Seals and Surveillance Cameras Removed from North Korea’s Nuclear Complex at Pyongyang

The International Atomic Energy Agency has reported they have removed the seals and surveillance cameras at North Korea’s nuclear complex at Pyongyang on Wednesday, opening the door for the country to reactivate the controversial plant.

The removal of seals and cameras means the IAEA will no longer be able to monitor the nuclear plant and North Korea has already made plans to return nuclear material to the site beginning next week.

North Korea had agreed to dismantle the reactor last November after a disarmament-for-aid deal was signed that would have taken the country off a U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism.

In June that deal fell apart as North Korea expressed anger about remaining on the terrorism list and announced they would reactivate the nuclear plant that is capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium.
