Pakistani Army Finds Wreckage of Suspected U.S. Spy Plane

The Pakistani army has said they have found the wreckage of a suspected U.S. spy plane in the violent tribal area of South Waziristan along the Afghan border.

The unmanned aerial vehicle reportedly was spotted flying over the Pakistani-Afghanistan border on Tuesday night when it crashed due to a suspected malfunction. A Pakistani military spokesman announced, “the wreckage of the UAV has been recovered from the site by the security forces personnel and the matter is under detailed investigation.”

The United States has not acknowledged the loss of a drone and has dismissed any claims that one of their crafts were shot down.

Earlier this month the Pakistan army authorized their troops to open fire on U.S. troops or aircrafts that cross over from Afghanistan. Pakistan has said they were not responsible for the downing of the drone spy craft, noting it appeared to have crashed due to a malfunction.
