The 93-year-old Hungarian actress – who was recently released from hospital a suspected blood clot was found on her knee – and her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt, have continued their 20-year strong tradition by donating the traditional birds to the needy ahead of celebrations next Thursday (25.11.10).
The turkeys will be given to the Vera Davis McClendon Youth and Family Center in Venice, California, which is where Zsa Zsa did community service after being charged with slapping a Los Angeles police officer 20 years ago.
Frederic told RadarOnline.com: "We decided to make Thanksgiving a part of the people’s lives at the centre when Zsa Zsa was helping out and bought them all turkeys that year.
"Vera passed away a few years ago but we have continued the tradition of giving turkeys to the poor families that the centre helps support to make it a happy Thanksgiving for everyone there."
Last Friday (12.11.10), Zsa Zsa - who has been in and out of hospital since suffering from two blood clots following hip surgery in July - was rushed to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after her doctor discovered a massive blood clot in her leg, which could leave her susceptible to a heart attack.
At the hospital it was determined Zsa Zsa was suffering from an infection in her right leg and no blood flow in her left leg. She is now resting at home, but Frederic said he is watching her closely.
He said: “The swelling still hasn’t really gone down. If it continues, I will take Zsa Zsa back to the hospital. The antibiotics don’t seem to be really working but we will see in a couple days how she is.”
This is not the first time Zsa Zsa has been taken to hospital since undergoing a hip replacement after falling out of bed earlier in the year.
At one point, a priest was called in to read the star her last rites.
