More and more home builders have joined the effort to preserve the environment. This year, 2008, green building is expected to represent 6% of the residential construction industry, according to a survey conducted by McGraw-Hill Construction Research and Analytics for the US Green Building Council. That is a 4% increase since 2005. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recently released figures from a survey of multi-family builders and developers and 74% of respondents said that their buyers and renters are willing to pay more for green amenities. More than 1,000 builders, remodelers and other members of the home building industry have earned the Certified Green Professional (CGP) educational designation since it was introduced early this year by the NAHB.
Millions of people have joined the green movement; reducing, reusing, and recycling to help our environment. A popular Keyword research tool shows that “green homes” is searched 6,660 times per month, “green homes for sale” is searched 1,764 times a month, and “California green homes” is searched 330 times a month.
