#3 Georgia Bulldogs will host #8 Alabama Crimson Tide in an early SEC battle on Saturday evening at 7:45pm EST.
UGA entered the season ranked #1 in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time in school history. Despite being undefeated, the Bulldogs have slipped down in the polls due to less-than-expected performances.
Georgia is coming off of a 27-10 win against Arizona State in a rare SEC-Pac 10 early season match-up, while Alabama dominated SEC West rival Arkansas 49-14.
UGA is led by Heisman Trophy candidate Knowshon Moreno and quarterback Matthew Stafford, whom many believe could be the No. 1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Moreno leads the SEC in rushing yard with 455 and is third in the nation with nine touchdowns.
However, in this game, the spotlight will likely be on two freshmen standout wide receivers: Georgia's A.J. Green and Alabama's Julio Jones. Last year, Jones was the nation's best high school wide receiver, while Green was second.
Both are tall, athletic gamebreakers who lead their teams in receiving yards. Jones, who stands 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, had 11 receptions for 132 yards and three TDs. Green, who is 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, has caught 16 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns.
Alabama has risen in the rankings due to their surprising opening win against then-No. 9 Clemson, 34-10.
Georgia and Alabama have met five times when both were ranked, with the Bulldogs winning all five meetings. Georgia has won three straight over the Tide since a 31-0 Alabama victory in Athens in 1995.
