Pakistani Army Announces more than 1,000 Militants Killed Over Last Month

A massive Pakistani military offensive in the highly volatile tribal district of Bajaur has resulted in more than 1,000 militant deaths over the last month.

According to Pakistani army officials control of the Bajaur district is instrumental in defeating pro-Taliban and al Qaeda militants. Maj-Gen Tariq Khan estimated that control of Bajaur would eliminate about 65% of the militant problem in Pakistan.

Pakistan has also claimed they have captured several militants.

While the army has stated more than 1,000 militants have been killed those numbers have not been verified by any group or agency.
