The U.S. Putting Tour announced today that it will hold two amateur putting tournaments in Southern California in December that will be official qualifying events for its 2011 USPT National Championship, also to be held in Southern California.
"We're in discussions with several locations currently and expect to announce exact locations and dates within the week," stated USPT president, Jim Hartley. "While the holidays are a busy time for families, they're also a perfect time for our putting tournaments because most people have extra days off work and the weather in Southern California is usually very good in December."
Hartley added that Southern California golfers will be able to check the U.S. Putting Tour blog or the
putting tour news page at the tour's website to get specific information. They also can follow the putting tour at Twitter, which has the Twitter tag: no_gimmies.
In addition to the two scheduled December
putting tournaments, there will be USPT
putting competitions throughout 2011 nationwide leading up to the September 24-30 USPT National Championship at The Crossings at Carlsbad.
Any golf course, men's club, ladies club, event planner, charity golf tournament organizer, or individual interested in hosting an official USPT qualifying event can learn how at the USPT website. Golfers also have the option of entering the championship directly by going to USPuttingTour.com.
