While analysts already have Georgia’s A.J. Green down as a top-five pick in the NFL draft next spring, they might want to check with the junior player about his plans first.
Green told reporters on Wednesday that he isn't sure if he’ll enter the 2011 NFL draft or not. He said he won’t make a decision until after Georgia raps up its season.
There are many factors for the star receiver to consider. Looking at the reasons to stay at Georgia, there is the threat of an NFL lockout and his mom’s wish for him to finish his degree. On the other hand, there’s also a chance he could hurt his “draft stock” by staying if he injures himself in his senior season.
“I’m not going to make that decision right yet,” Green said. “You’ve got to do what is best for you.”
If he does decide to enter the draft, this Saturday’s game against rival Georgia Tech could be Green’s last as a Bulldog.
The junior wide receiver is believed by many to be the best receiver in college football. He has 2,445 career receiving yards and 23 touchdowns.
