"It is fashionable to argue that loyalty to carriers is dead (except perhaps to Verizon Wireless, whose service level is perceived to be markedly higher than that of its competitors)," writes Craig Moffett, an equities analyst with Sanford Bernstein who wrote the report analyzing the study. "The new conventional wisdom is that carrier loyalty has been replaced with loyalty to the device. But high inclination to switch carriers and phones to maintain an unlimited plan suggest that perhaps the plan itself is more important than either one."

What's this mean for wireless operators? For AT&T, which has benefited from die-hard loyalty to the Apple iPhone for more than three years, it means the carrier may be vulnerable when it loses the exclusive contract for the iPhone. As for the other three wireless operators that have not yet eliminated an unlimited data plan, it means they might be able to scoop up valuable customers. We’re in good company."

Verizon Customers Love The Combo: DROID PRO + Unlimited data plan

Step 2:

During the shopping cart process, make sure you check off the unlimited data plan because rumors say that all 4 carriers will be getting rid of the unlimited data plan because it is not profitable. However, if you sign up for the unlimited data plan today, you will be grandfathered. Which means that your bill will stay the same and you can enjoy the benefits of an unlimited data plan even if it is no longer on sale.

Benefits of Unlimited Data Plan

"The same is true for unlimited data plans. At face value, the unlimited data plan sounds great because you never have to worry about how much data you have already used, or how much bandwidth you still have available for the month. More importantly, you don't have to worry about the horrifying shock when you get your bill and it is double what you expected because of overage charges.

There is something to be said for the peace of mind of knowing that the cost of your data usage will remain consistent--even if you are paying double what you ought to be paying since you don't really consume that much data." Comment above is from PC World

50 % Of Canadian Families Own Mobile Phones

"Two-thirds of Canadian families own at least one PC; 75 percent have Internet access, 59 percent own two TVs, an estimated 50 percent have access to a mobile phone and some 90 percent own at least one video-game player. The most recent statistics show the average family spends close to $2,000 a year on telephone, cellular services, Internet connection and cable — and that doesn’t include the cost of replacing outdated equipment, software, virus protection subscriptions, video games and players, new phones with added features, printer ink, fax paper, new DVDs."

What does this have to do with signing up for a data plan?  Well, it's simple.  If you know you are going to be spending most of your time on the road and you will be surfing the Internet, you would be wisest to buy the unlimited data plan. We hope you enjoyed our article on the benefits of owning a family unlimited data plan.
