Prince William and Kate Middleton Pick April Wedding Date

The date has been set for Prince William’s marriage to longtime Kate Middleton, who will now officially be known as Catherine Middleton. The British Monarchy has announced the couple’s wedding will take place on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey.

Westminster Abbey is the site of the 1947 wedding of Queen Elizabeth to Prince Philip. The funeral of William’s mother, Princess Diana, was also held at there in 1997.

Prime Minister David Cameron previously announced the Prince’s wedding date would be made a public holiday for the U.K.
