Jimmy Clausen threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, Armando Allen Jr. ran for 134 yards and a touchdown and totaled 105 yards on four kick returns and Notre Dame (3-1) rolled up 477 yards of total offense to knock off the Purdue Boilermakers (2-2) 38-21 on Saturday.
It took the Irish offense awhile to get started as they trailed 14-7 in the second quarter, their touchdown coming on a 40-yard interception return by Aaron Valentin but Clausen was able to get Notre Dame even when he hit Golden Tate on a 6-yard toss with 2:35 left in second quarter.
Notre Dame had little trouble with their offense in the second half as they put 21 points on the board in the third quarter as Allen gave the Irish a 21-14 lead with a 16-yard run and Clausen hooked up with Kyle Rudolph on a 5-yard toss for the 28-14 advantage. After Purdue scored on a 54-yard Curtis Painter to Desmond Tardy pass Clausen put the Irish back in the endzone when he hit David Grimes on a 30-yard toss over the middle.
The Irish sealed the game in the fourth on a 41-yard field goal from Brandon Walker.
Notre Dame will host Stanford next week while Purdue will host Penn State.
