Healthcare Practice Awarded for Expansion Despite Odds Against It
Despite the obstacles against it, McGovern Physical Therapy has managed to succeed and grow and win the Inc. 5000 award to acknowledge its growth.
While many businesses are downsizing and shutting doors in the down economy, McGovern Physical Therapy and Associates are celebrating their growth – with an Inc. 5000 award. Founded by Dr. Kevin McGovern in 2000, the company receives this award in its 10th year – an exceptional feat since it is easier for a company to grow in their first year than it is after it has been open for a while. McGovern Physical Therapy Associates has grown to a $4 million company and has four locations with 31 employees and has been growing every year.
Dr. McGovern says his success is due to always trying to improve production, and hiring the best delivery team. “I guide and manage the company, but I would be nowhere without my employees,” says Dr. McGovern. “They are as much a part of McGovern Physical Therapy as I am.” Dr. McGovern is also aware that in a down economy, businesses have to get smart and promote more. He has recently amped up his promotion by hiring JoTo Extreme PR.
In 2000, Dr. McGovern had been under the employment of another physical therapist, who he had helped grow the practice of when he decided to take a chance and go out on his own. “I got the will and courage to say, ‘I can do this and service people better.’”
The Inc. 500 and Inc. 5000 awards are given out annually to recognize the fastest growing companies in the country. While always prestigious, it serves as an even prouder accomplishment in the “new economy”. To qualify, businesses must be U.S. based, privately held and independent. Businesses are ranked according to percentage revenue growth over a four year period.
“If you want to know which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. “These are the most dynamic, fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones finding innovative solutions to problems, creating smart systems, and inventing products we soon discover we can't live without.” Other companies on this list have included Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, GoDaddy, Under Armour, Jamba Juice, American Apparel, Oracle, and hundreds of other powerhouses.
