AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #8 Alabama Crimson Tide Bury #3 Georgia Bulldogs Early, Hang on for Upset

John Parker Wilson threw for 205 yards and a touchdown, Glen Coffee rushed for 86 yards and two TDs, Julio Jones had five receptions for 96 yards and a pair of scores and the #8 Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0) held the highly touted #3 Georgia Bulldogs (4-1) rushing attack to just 60 yards in their 41-30 upset in Athens on Saturday night.

Alabama stunned Georgia early as they dominated the first half, leading 31-0 at the break. Mark Ingram gave the Tide a 7-0 lead on a 7-yard touchdown run and after Leigh Tiffin booted a 23-yard field goal Coffee capped a five-play drive with a 3-yard TD run and Alabama was up 17-0 in the second quarter.

Roy Upchurch boosted the advantage to 24-0 when he scored from 4 yards out and then Parker Wilson hit freshman sensation Julio Jones on a 22-yard strike to leave the Bulldogs stunned, staring at a 31-0 deficit at halftime.

Georgia put the first 17 points on the board in the second half and trailed 31-17 early in the fourth quarter but Tiffin made it a three-score game with a 32-yard field goal and after Georgia turned the ball over on downs Alabama pounded in another touchdown on a 12-yard run from Coffee to go up 41-17.

Matt Stafford, who finished with 274 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns, brought the Dogs down the field and hit Michael Moore on a 22-yard TD to get to within 41-23 and after recovering the ensuing onside kick Stafford found A.J. Green on a 21-yard strike to put the score at 41-30 with less than two minutes left but the Tide recovered the next onside kick and ran the clock out for the huge road win.

Alabama will face Kentucky next week while Georgia takes on Tennessee in two weeks.
