At least 32 people have been killed in Vietnam as Typhoon Hagupit triggered flash floods and landslides after dumping massive amounts of rain on the country.
The storm had already killed at least eight in the Philippines and 17 in China before slamming Vietnam with heavy rains and strong winds which devastated farmland and washed away homes.
Soldiers have been dispatched to help those stranded by Typhoon Hagupit but those areas hardest hit remain difficult to access. Meteorologists have predicted more rain which could pose greater problems for the capital city of Hanoi where the Red River is already nearing dangerous levels.
