NFL Scores Week 4: Larry Johnson Runs Kansas City Chiefs Over Denver Broncos for First Win

Larry Johnson ran for 198 yards and two touchdowns, Damon Huard was 21/28 passing for 160 yards and a touchdown and the Kansas City Chiefs (1-3) defense forced four turnovers to beat the Denver Broncos (3-1) 33-19 on Sunday.

Nick Novak gave the Chiefs a 6-0 lead after the first quarter with a  pair of field goals but Jay Cutler put the Broncos in front early in the second with a 16-yard toss to Brandon Marshall for a 7-6 advantage. Kansas City then turned to Johnson deep in Denver territory and he punched it in from a yard out to give the Chiefs a 13-7 lead.

Denver managed to get a 56-yard field goal from Matt Prater just before the end of the half and Prater opened the third quarter scoring with a 51-yard field goal to tie the game at 13-13 but Novak put the Chiefs back in front 16-13 with his third field goal of the game.

Huard then pushed the Chiefs lead to 23-13 when he found Tony Gonzalez on a 10-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth. Denver was able to drive on the Chiefs but couldn’t manage to punch the ball into the endzone as they settled for a pair of Prater field goals and Johnson sealed the game for the Chiefs with a 16-yard touchdown run with 1:37 left on the clock.
