Annual Macy's Day Parade Ushers in Holidays

This year’s Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade promises to be a treat.  The parade which takes place every Thanksgiving morning, and always ends with an appearance by Santa, has become a tradition amongst many families for bringing in the holidays and ushering in the holiday season.

Always featured prominently are the Giant Balloons that float along the streets of New York City.  This year there will be 15 balloons ranging from favorites like Snoopy and Kermit the Frog to newer characters like Dreamworks’s Kung Fu Panda.

There will also be a variety of novelty balloons in the parade.  Make sure not to miss the Kool-Aid Man or the Energizer Bunny as they float by.  Also ushering in the season are a number of floats from across the nation.  Floats will include the Snow Queen, the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore’s American Pride and Jolly Polly Pirate Ship.

The most impressive lineup may be the talent.  Acts from eras new and old will perform to delight fans gathered in person and watching on TV.  Gladys Knight will bring her booming voice to the stage, along with Arlo Guthrie and Mannheim Steamroller.  For the younger crowd featured acts will include Kanye West, Keri Hilson, Jessica Simpson and India.Aire.

The parade is scheduled to start around 9am on Thursday so make sure to tune in.
