After a wild final week in Major League Baseball the playoff picture remains unset as the Chicago White Sox still have a chance to enter postseason if they can knock off the Detroit Tigers on Monday and then beat the Minnesota Twins in a one-game playoff on Tuesday.
The White Sox had a 2.5 game lead over the Twins heading into their three-game series against Minnesota on Sept. 23 but left the Twin Cities trailing by half a game. They then dropped a pair of games to the Cleveland Indians before winning on Sunday to pull within half a game of the Twins with one game remaining.
With the Twins season done the White Sox control their own destiny as a win in Chicago on Monday earns them a ticket to a game on Tuesday against the Twins, which will also be played in Chicago.
Chicago will put Gavin Floyd (16-8) on the hill on Monday while Detroit will counter with Freddy Garcia (1-1). The Tigers have put together one of the most disappointing seasons on 2008 after an offseason in which they acquired key free agents and became a popular choice for a World Series birth.
Game time is set for 2:05 p.m. ET
