American League Playoffs Schedule: Los Angeles Angels Host Boston Red Sox in Game One Wednesday

The American League playoffs will begin on Wednesday with the Los Angeles Angles, owner of MLB’s best record (100-62), hosting the Boston Red Sox (95-67), who earned their ticket to postseason after claiming the wild card.

Los Angeles will send John Lackey (12-5) to the hill while Boston will counter with Jon Lester (16-6). Lackey was shaky at best in his last start, giving up 12 hits and 10 runs in 2.2-innings against the Rangers on Sept. 26 and he has lost three of his last four decisions. Lester is heading in the other direction as the left-hander has won four of his last five decisions including a two hit, one run performance over six innings in a Red Sox win over the Indians on Sept. 25.

The Angels owned the Red Sox in the regular season, taking their series 8-1 with Lackey earning two of those wins.

Game time for the series opener is set for 10:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
