Bob Alvarez is an independent singer, songwriter, who performs under the name Revenge of Apollo. He describes his music as acoustic with moody overtones drawing inspiration from the likes of Attack in Black, Sitting Color and Mark Lanigan of the Screaming Trees.
Although Alvarez is an independent artist, he has plans to turn Revenge of Apollo into a full band. He will officially begin his search at the beginning of 2009 after he has saved money for new equipment for the band. After writing music for three years and performing for a year, Alvarez has a good idea of what he wants in a band member and is excited with the idea of forming a full band. As far as band members go, he wants musicians who think like him musically and he can get along well with.
Alvarez recently self released a five song EP entitled The Stranger. The EP was recorded over the course of a few weekends with the help of a friend with a small home studio. He says the music on the album is simple, stating “simple is better,” yet he is confident that the music is catchy enough to grab an audience’s attention. He will soon release another EP by the end of the year after he’s had some time to write new material.
