A prank left one Vermont man dead and another behind bars on Thanksgiving Day. Police say 23-year-old Nicholas Bell was trying to prank his friend, identified as Jeffrey Charbonneau, by firing an air rifle to wake him up. Instead of an air rifle, Bell accidentally used a loaded rifle.
"The accused fired the weapon, which was a loaded .22 cal rifle hitting the [victim] in the chest," Manchester police said in a statement.
Charbonneau, 24, died at the scene. Bell was charged with manslaughter and is being held in jail on $250,000 bail.
