After 162 games in the regular season the American League Central remains deadlocked and on Tuesday the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins will meet one more time to determine who takes the division crown and earns a birth into the playoffs and the right to face the Tampa Bay Rays.
Chicago needed a win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday to get to Tuesday but a grand slam from Alexei Ramirez and six strong innings from Gavin Floyd gave the White Sox the 8-2 win and pushed their record to 88-74, on par with the Twins.
Now it all comes down to a one-game playoff on Tuesday as Minnesota travels to Chicago for the game set at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Twins will go with Nick Blackburn (11-10) who earned a win against the White Sox in his last outing on Sept. 24. Chicago will counter with John Danks (11-9) who was less than impressive against the Cleveland Indians on Sept. 26, giving up seven runs in four innings and taking the loss.
Blackburn was 2-1 against the Sox this year while Danks was 1-1 against the Twins.
Minnesota held a narrow 10-8 advantage in the season series but the White Sox were 7-2 at home against the Twins
