While it’s not unheard of for a company to send its employees off-site to receive continued-education for their jobs, it’s a bit more abnormal in the business world for a company to pay its employees to study at the office...on a regular weekly basis. But that’s just what PostcardMania is doing and they have help – from the government – to the tune of a $21K Incumbent Worker Training grant.
Some may wonder if providing continuing education for employees during regular business hours is wise considering the economy, but in Pinellas County, the government not only agrees, but supports the notion. For a second time, PostcardMania has been awarded an Incumbent Worker Training grant from Workforce Florida. Due to being located in a Brownfield zone, the $21,000-plus training grant will pay for 75% of PostcardMania’s annual cost to train their employees, where the usual and customary is 50%.
The Incumbent Worker Training grants are being rewarded to help companies train their employees in order to stabilize the local workforce and ensure more job security.
State Representative, Jim Frishe, stated in a letter to PostcardMania’s Staff Enhancement Manager, “I know that along with the grant money, your company is also making a large investment in the training of your employees.”
