It was a big Saturday for Florida State.
Not only did they break a 6-game losing streak to rival Florida, but they also clinched the Atlantic Division in the ACC with a N.C. State loss to Maryland.
FSU senior quarterback Christian Ponder threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns in a dominating 31-7 win over the Gators. Head coach Jimbo Fisher became just the 3rd coach in ACC history to win 9 games in his first season.
“What a perfect day for Florida State football,'' Fisher said after the game.
The Seminoles (9-3 overall, 6-2 ACC) put the game away in the second quarter after scoring three touchdowns and taking a 24-7 lead at halftime. Florida finishes its regular season with a disappointing 7-5 record.
The Seminoles will face Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship on Saturday in Charlotte.
