2008 AL Playoffs Schedule: Boston Red Sox Travel to Face LA Angels in Game 1 Wednesday
The Boston Red Sox will take on the Los Angeles Angels will begin Game 1 of their series in the American League playoffs on Wednesday at 10pm EST.
The Red Sox won the AL wild-card, finishing second to the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. Boston had three AL All-Star Game starters in Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia and Manny Ramirez. Ramirez has since been dealt to the LA Dodgers.
However, the Red Sox offense still finished first in the American League in OPS and top five in all but one offensive category. The Red Sox pitching staff is led by Daisuke Matsusaka, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.
The Angels won the AL West and have the best record (100-62) in the MLB. They won their division by a whopping 21 games.
Their offense is led by Vladimir Guerrero, who led the team in batting average (.303), home runs (27), RBIs (91), and hits (164). Torii Hunter and Garret Anderson complete the Angels' dynamic outfield.
The starting pitchers will be Boston's Lester (16-6, 3.21 ERA, 152 SOs) and the Angels' John Lackey (12-5, 3.75 ERA, 130 SOs).
