After Philadelphia Phillies starter Cole Hamels put together a dominant performance in Game One, allowing just two hits over eight innings and striking out nine, the Milwaukee Brewers will need to find a way to bounce back on Thursday to even their best-of-five series.
The Brewers will be facing Brett Myers (10-13 4.55 ERA) who collected a win in his only matchup against Milwaukee this year. Milwaukee will counter with their ace C.C. Sabathia (17-10 2.70 ERA) (11-2 1.65 ERA with Mil.) who will be pitching on three day’s rest. Sabathia didn’t face the Phillies this season.
Philadelphia has dominated the Brewers in their meetings this year, holding a 5-1 advantage in the regular season match-up.
If the Brewers are to bounce back they will almost certainly need a better effort from Prince Fielder, who was 0-4 with three strikeouts, and Ryan Braun, who was 1-4 and left two runners on base. Philadelphia will also need to improve their bats as they won’t be able to rely on the same good fortune that benefited them in Game One.
First pitch for Game Two is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET
