National League Playoff Scores: Shane Victorino’s Grand Slam Gives Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 Lead Against Milwaukee Brewers

Shane Victorino finished 3-4 with a grand Slam and a pair of doubles, Brett Myers tossed seven strong innings of two-hit ball and Brad Lidge pitched a perfect ninth inning to give the Philadelphia Phillies a 5-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers and take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five playoff series.

Early on it looked like it might be the Brewers day as Myers struggled in the first inning as he walked Ray Durham, gave up a double to Ryan Braun, walked Prince Fielder and then walked J.J. Hardy to fall behind 1-0 but he got Corey Hart to hit into a double-play to end the inning and escape further damage.

Philly made the Brewers pay in the bottom of the second as C.C. Sabathia struggled after retiring Pat Burrell to lead off the inning. Jayson Werth doubled and Pedro Feliz plated him with a double of his own to tie the score 1-1. Carlos Ruiz then grounded out to second but Myers drew a walk and Jimmy Rollins did the same to load the bases. Victorino then lined a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a grand slam and a 5-1 lead.

After his struggles in the first Myers settled down and didn’t give up another hit until the seventh and Ryan Madson and J.C. Romero got through the eighth, allowing a run but Lidge slammed the door in the ninth to secure the 5-2 win.

The series will now shift to Milwaukee where the Brewers will host the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET with Dave Bush faces Jamie Moyer.
